The Calanques National Park rolls in EDEN

On Tuesday 22 August, in the presence of the Mayor of Cassis, Danielle MILON, the 2CV Méhari Club and the Parc national des Calanques sealed their partnership to preserve the Calanques and raise awareness among visitors.

The 2CV Méhari Club Cassis and the Parc national des Calanques are Cassis residents with a strong attachment to their region, and it’s only natural that they should join forces this summer in a joint project to preserve the local heritage. A 100% electric EDEN Mehari is being made available to field workers to help raise awareness among visitors.

Famous for their outstanding beauty, the Calanques are home to an exceptional natural heritage. Recognised as a global hotspot for biodiversity, the Parc national des Calanques, created in 2012, is Europe’s first urban national park. With the mission of raising awareness of the need to preserve this exceptional heritage, the teams criss-cross the region to meet visitors. This year, they’ve added a little something extra: a 100% electric EDEN Mehari built by the 2CV Mehari Club Cassis.

“The availability of the Electric Mehari is a fun and practical way of reaching out to our visitors. Alongside our fleet of electric mountain bikes, it’s also a further commitment to improving our establishment’s carbon footprint”. Gaëlle Berthaud, Director of the Parc national des Calanques.

Strongly committed to sustainable mobility since 2016, the 2CV Méhari Club Cassis, located at the gateway to the park, is cultivating similar environmental values, in particular by manufacturing and marketing the EDEN. Powered by an electric motor, it takes on board the contemporary challenges of sustainable mobility while celebrating the spirit of the original Mehari and its unique driving pleasure. Combining tradition, elegance and modernity, this vehicle also plays a role in preserving France’s automotive heritage.

All summer long, visitors will be able to admire the aptly named EDEN Bleu Calanque and meet the teams to find out more about the 200 protected species that inhabit these emblematic landscapes and sea.
